Dean Smith has confirmed that discussions are now taking place with Brentford co directors of football over wing wizard Jota.

The Spaniard has been out of the side at Eibar recently and has even been left out of the matchday squad with rumours suggesting that he may return to Griffin Park.

Brentford fans have fond memories of Jota and some are desperate to see him return to west London.

And Smith, who has previously said that no discussions have taken place, changed his tune and revealed the club are monitoring the situation.

He said: “I can't say any more at the moment. It's a situation we're monitoring to make sure he's playing and enjoying his football still and whether his problems have been resolved and whether he'd look to come back or not. It's one we constantly monitor.

“We have had discussions about him. When we have a meeting about the playing staff with the owner and directors of football, Jota is one who comes up.”
