Brentford wing wizard Jota has been nominated for the SkyBet Championship player of the month award.

The Spaniard was in scintillating form for the Bees last month, scoring five goals and setting up a further three.

The highlight of it was when the 25-year-old bagged a hat-trick against Rotherham in the Bees' 4-2 win over the Championship's bottom side.

The Brentford favourite is rivalled for the gong by Huddersfield forward Izzy Brown, Preston midfielder Aiden McGeady and Cardiff winger Kenneth Zohore.

Brown was involved in all three goals against Brighton and also found the net against Leeds and QPR.

McGeady was superb in February and was a thorn in the side of west London teams; scoring two superb goals against Brentford, following it up against QPR. The Irishman also added four assists to his game.

Zohore has been reborn under the management of Neil Warnock and scored five goals in five games, including a powerful strike against Fulham.
