Philipp Hofmann hopes it is the first of many Griffin Park goals after bagging a last minute winner against Nottingham Forest.

The German guided the ball home after receiving the rebound from Ryan Woods' shot to give 10-man Brentford the win after Harlee Dean was sent off.

Outgoing head coach Lee Carsley said ahead of the game that Hofmann still needed time to settle into English football after his summer transfer.

While the German has shown flashes of brilliance, he is yet to string a consistent run of performances together but he hopes that the strike can be the springboard to more success.

“It was a brilliant moment for me and for the team. It was an important three points. The rebound came to me. I scuffed it but it's not important – a goal is a goal. We're all happy now,” he explained.

“I was injured for three weeks and it was hard for me to come back. I've been working hard every day.

“When the team has a day off I'm with the conditioning trainer. I think it's the first of many at Griffin Park.”

Carsley also confirmed after the game it would be his last game in charge of the side so it made the late winner a perfect way to say goodbye for Hofmann.

He added: “Lee is a great coach and we've won a lot of games with him. It's great to give him that send off.”
