Brentford goalkeeper Dan Bentley is pleased with his first season in the Championship.

The Bees stopper joined the club from Southend United and has been an ever present in the league this campaign.

Bentley has also become a popular figure with the club's supporters with his passion resonating with the fanbase.

He said: “Overall, I'm happy with how it's gone. It's been a learning curve for me being my debut season in the Championship.

“At times, there's been a few mistakes and good bad and indifferent times. That's natural for any season for any player.

“I'm pleased with how it's gone and I've taken to the vision well and I've been consistent for most of the season.

“I'm happy with how it's gone and going from strength to strength and keep going on the learning curve I'm on and develop into an even better goalkeeper in every department.”

There have been highs and lows for Bentley, as well as Brentford, but overall he has had more ups then downs.

He added: “Losses are a low point – conceding five at Carrow Road was a low point. Mistakes are lows.

“But I think they're part and parcel of football and you learn from them and mistakes can be a positive.

“Reading away sticks in my mind. We've done well in that game and a mistake cost us the game but I feel I am a better goalkeeper for that game and that mistake.

“I came through it every single time but, in terms of highs obviously playing in the Championship every week is a high for me.

“Getting the exposure of the Championship is fantastic. I love playing every week. There are other highs – both Sheffield Wednesday games are highs and there a various other games and saves that are highs as well.

“But, in terms of biggest highs, I'd say those two games and getting the exposure to the Championship.”

Bentley was speaking at a Kits for Kids event sponsored by Wickes, official DIY partner of the EFL.

72 children's football clubs across England and Wales have been rewarded with new kit, thanks to a national competition by Wickes. Local teams have been given the ultimate reward, with sets of brand new kit from Mitre, together with over 1,000 EFL tickets to all Kit for Kids winners to watch their local EFL team play.
