Tommy Smith was a relieved man after setting up Brentford's equaliser against Nottingham Forest.

The Bees came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 for the second successive home game and the veteran forward, who helped inspire the fightback, was disappointed to give Forest an early advantage.

But he felt that Brentford deserved at least a share of the spoils after applying plenty of pressure in the second half.

He said: “It was nice to see it go in. From the pressure we applied in the second half, we were disappointed to be 2-0 down so we're delighted to see it fall in.

“It was a bit like Millwall in some ways. Forest was a different type of game to the Millwall one.

“For teams like Forest who probably feel the play-offs are a bit too far away for them at the moment are still a good good squad and looking to impress the new manager for next season.

The 2-2 draw put a slight dampener on Brentford's 4-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, but that win will live long in the memory for Smith.

He added: “It was fantastic. Those games don't come along too often. It was a great atmosphere, great pitch, two teams going hammer and tongs.

“We scored four fantastic goals and everything seemed to come together for us on the day.

“It was a little bit unfortunate for them as I don't think they deserved 4-1 on the day but that's football and that's derbies. It was brilliant for the fans that travelled.”
