Brentford's west London derbies with QPR and Fulham will have added spice after Jake Bidwell and David Button joined the pair respectively, according to Bees defender Yoann Barbet.

Rangers moved to sign the left back, who captained Brentford last season, when the transfer window opened on July 1 while the Whites completed the deal for Button on July 19 for a seven figure fee.

And, for Barbet, it means the fixtures against Brentford's west London neighbours will have added interest.

He said: “It will be a little bit different. We want to win the derbies and now a little bit more now our captain joined QPR and the same for Butts. I wish them well but hope they finish below us.”

Tom Field has deputised for Bidwell so far in pre-season, although the Bees are closing in on the signature of Callum Elder on a loan deal from Leicester.

And Barbet has been impressed by the performances of the young left back.

The Frenchman added: “He's a good player. I played with him for the U21 and he did well against Fulham.

“He needs to improve as the Championship is new to him but he's really good. I'm happy to play next to him. He understands what I say and he's a good guy. He can be a good left back.”

Brentford replaced Button before the goalkeeper even left to move down the Thames to Craven Cottage with Dan Bentley coming in from Southend.

Barbet explained: “I've played with him and he looks good. I'm looking forward to play with him now David has left for Fulham.”
