Blackburn Rovers 2–3 Brentford

Brilliant Brentford twice came from behind before grabbing a dramatic late winner to take all three points at Blackburn Rovers this evening.

It took the home team just six minutes to get off the mark when a long ball forward caught the Bees defence napping and Rudy Gestede was allowed the time and space to find the top corner with a superb finish which left David Button helpless.

There was a let-off soon after when sloppy play by both Jonathan Douglas and Harlee Dean let in ex-Bee Jordan Rhodes, who was fortunately off-target, but Dean was unlucky not to level matters at the other end when Rovers keeper Jason Steele pulled off an outstanding save from his header.

Feet up: Jake Bidwell and Chris Taylor

It was Button's turn next to earn his spurs with a good save from a tricky Chris Taylor strike, before Alan Judge came within inches of scoring against his former club as a 30-yard free kick cannoned back off the crossbar.

The Bees were level a few minutes before the break as James Tarkowski found Chris Long, starting in place of Andre Gray, who picked up the ball on the right hand edge of the area and saw his shot deflected beyond Steele and into the far corner.

However, the old saying goes that you are never as vulnerable as when you have just scored, and so it proved as Rovers went in front again in first half injury time, Taylor smashing home at the far post following some poor Bees defending.

The first chance of the second half fell to Stuart Dallas, who drew a fine save from Steele, and minutes later the Bees were level when super Spaniard Jota cut in from the right, kept going as Rovers backed off and picked his spot with aplomb.

Blocked: Rudy Gestede and Moses Odubajo

There were let-offs for Brenford when Rhodes put a free header tamely wide, Gestede fired over from a good position and Tarkowski blocked superbly from Taylor.

But it was the Bees who took the lead for the first time in the match with six minutes left when Jota's deflected shot fell to him a few yards out from an open goal for the easiest finish he will ever have.

Rovers were not finished yet, however, and Tom Cairney was just wide with a belter of a shot in the last minute, but the Bees held on through four hairy minutes of injury time to take the points.
