Dan Bentley believes the time was right for the Brentford squad to tell each other some home truths after their 5-0 defeat to Norwich.

The goalkeeper was embarrassed after the heavy defeat at Carrow Road and labelled the performance as totally unacceptable.

And he believes that the discussion was overdue after some recent results and now the time is to put things right on the training ground come Monday morning.

Bentley said: “We've had a discussion in the dressing room and some home truths have been told from players and staff alike as to why we were well off it.

“I can speak on behalf of myself and the rest of the boys that I'm embarrassed by that result.

“It wasn't good enough all over the pitch. It's something we can't allow to happen again as that's totally unacceptable.”

He added: “If there's stuff that people aren't saying on a daily basis then there needs to come a time where it has to be said.

“After that, it was probably overdue. Some of the recent results – it's only so long you can go without saying things that needed to be said.

“It's not a matter of people falling out. It's a matter of people sharing their opinion. We'll continue to work hard on the training ground and try and put it right. We know it was unacceptable.”

Bentley will not be taking any prisoners on the training ground and if they aren't working hard enough they will be told in no uncertain terms.

He explained; “Any player that's not working hard will be pulled up instantly. If they're not working hard they're not doing their job.

“We need to become horrible to play against as we're rolling over too easily for teams. There's only so much you can tolerate.”
