Mark Warburton has assured Brentford fans that James Tarkowski will learn from the sending off which could have cost the Bees a famous victory today.

Warburton's men had to play all but five minutes of the second half with 10 men after the young defender earned a second yellow for a needless lunge at the Matchroom Stadium.

But the Bees held on with a resolute second half display, and Marcello Trotta's strike on the stroke of half time was enough to take all three points.

The Bees boss said: “There's no argument with the decision, but James will learn from that. When you get a yellow card that early on in the game as a defender, you are living on a knife edge. But look at the team spirit and the way we dug in in the second half.

“James is a great young player who the lads have embraced. He's there in the changing room with his head in his hands, but it's forgotten now. He's only 21 and he's a great footballing centre half who came in and did superb against Bradford and Tranmere.

“Harlee Dean came back in, having worked with the medical team all week, and did magnificently well – what options we have!”
