Jake Bidwell knows Brentford's trip to QPR is the perfect opportunity for the club to turn their woeful form around.

The Bees skipper knows the team have not been performing to the required standards but, at the same time, knows victory over Rangers will lift the clouds hovering over Griffin Park.

And he is fully aware of how important the west London derby contest is for the Brentford supporters.

He said: “It's the perfect game to turn it around in. I'm well aware of how important it is to the fans.

“You only have to go and speak to (player liason officer) Peter Gilham to know how important it is. It'll be a great chance to go on a run.”

Bidwell is respectful of the quality Rangers have and knows he'll be in for a tough battle trying to keep Matt Phillips, Junior Hoilett, Tjaronn Chery and Sebastian Polter quiet.

Dangerman: Tjaronn Chery

He added: “They've got a lot of players who have played in the Premier League but that's where we want to get to.

“You've got to relish playing against good players. To get to where we want to get to, we've got to overcome these teams.”

The Bees captain knows his form, and that of his team-mates, hasn't been good enough in recent games but he has been working hard to be fully prepared for the trip to Loftus Road.

“I don't think one player can say they're playing at the top of their game. It's not through lack of trying. All the lads are desperate to win,” he explained.

“There's no better game to turn it around than the QPR game. We've trained hard this week and everyone is looking forward to the game.”
