Boss Mark Warburton reserved special praise for goal hero Moses Odubajo following Brentford's draw against Birmingham City on Saturday.

Odubajo, having started every one of the Bees' Championship games so far, lost his place in the starting line-up for the visit of the Blues, as Warburton brought in Tommy Smith, Andre Gray and Jota for Nick Proschwitz, Stuart Dallas and Odubajo.

However, thrown on with just over a quarter of an hour left, the former Leyton Orient man took just five minutes to save a point, sprinting away from the cover to score.

Warburton admitted he initially thought the youngster had spurned the chance with a bad touch before recovering to flick the ball over Birmingham keeper Darren Randolph.

“I thought he’d taken it too far, so I was cursing him, said Warburton. “But it was a great finish in the end and I’m delighted for the boy because he has been suffering for a couple of weeks with a niggling injury picked up in training. It was a magnificent goal.”
