Brentford manager Mark Warburton saluted Stuart Dallas after the winger's brace lay the foundations for this afternoon's 4-1 thrashing of Fulham.

Dallas, having won many plaudits for his Northern Ireland performances during the international break, struck either side of the break at Craven Cottage with a pair of quality strikes.

For a player who was playing part-time football for Crusaders three year ago, and was last season being shipped out on loan to Northampton, he has come a long way in a short space of time.

Warburton said: “When we spotted Stuart playing in Northern Ireland he was training once a week and earning £70 a week, but we saw an energy and dynamism in him. In was very windy and driving with rain, but he never stopped running.

“He has done very well, and there is a lot more to come from him. His loan spell at Northampton was a big part of his development – it's all about getting the loan right.

“You only have to look at Alex Pritchard with us, and Toumani Diagouraga, who went to Portsmouth and was made captain, came back and has never looked back.”
