Mark Warburton has promised Brentford's promotion winners a crack at the Championship.

The Bees chief plans to add a couple of new faces to his squad during the close season as the west Londonders prepare for life in the second tier for the first time in more than 20 years.

Only a handful of players are expected to leave Griffin Park this summer, with keeper Liam O'Brien and Scott Barron among those set to move on.

However, boss Warburton says the nucleus of the squad will remain the same and will be given the opportunity to prove they can cut it at a higher level.

He said: "The players have earned the right to play in the Championship. They got us there and deserve a shot at it.

"We have a strong squad. We will look to bring in one or to who will strengthen us, but the boys here will get the chance."
