Rico Henry is nearing being considered for selection for Brentford and Dean Smith hinted that he would travel with the team to Sheffield Wednesday.

The summer signing from Walsall has not featured for the Bees first team since his arrival due to a dislocated shoulder he suffered with the Saddlers.

However, he has returned to full training and played 60 minutes for the B team against QPR last week.

And Smith is keen to get him back around the first team squad, suggesting he will travel to Sheffield rather than face Stevenage with the B team.

“Rico Henry has been back training with us and played 60 minutes with the B team, Smith said.

“He's getting close now. He's only played 60 minutes since he joined in August. He looks fit and he's energetic but the Championship is another level.”

When asked if he was going to be in the travelling party, Smith said: “He will probably travel up to Sheffield. I think the lads are looking forward to him singing so it'd be nice to get an overnight with him singing.”

Alan McCormack and Philipp Hofmann have both been ruled out while Alan Judge is still a way from returning to first team action.

Smith added: “Philipp Hofmann had to have an injection into his back. He's back jogging now so Sheffield should be too soon for him.

“Alan Judge is around us. He's still non contact. Alan McCormack has had a bit of a knockback. He had a groin strain and then felt his calf.”
