Mark Warburton was not in the last surprised by Alan Judge's two stunning strikes at Gresty Road this afternoon.

The on-loan Blackburn Rovers midfielder opened the scoring for Brentford at Crewe, then added a second after the break, both from outside the area.

Adam Forshaw's equally fine effort then clinched a 3-1 win, and Bees boss Warburton was quick to dish out the praise.

He said: “Alan does that in training all the time – he did it a few times this week – so it's no surprise to see him do it out on the pitch too. I had no doubts he could do it.

“He has been a great addition to the squad. We tried to get him last season, but it didn't happen, and we were delighted to be able to get him in this time.

“It was a blow losing Sam (Saunders) when we did, as he was League One player of the month for a reason, scoring four goals in four games, but Alan has come in and done superb for us.

“It's never about 12 or 13 players, it's a squad game these days. As for the future, he is a Blackburn Rovers player, and I have to respect that.”
