Brentford boss Mark Warburton says his side can't rest on their laurels, despite taking a massive step towards automatic promotion with victory over Crawley last night.

Jonathan Douglas's header earned a 1-0 win to extend their lead over third-placed Rotherham to nine points after the Millers were beaten by Sheffield United.

However, Warburton has warned the job is not complete, and has urged his troops not to get carried away by their healthy cushion.

“We need to get 94 points to go up," he said. "The most Rotherham can get is 93 and our target is always to look at the side closest to us and go one point better.

“Hopefully we can achieve that, but the job is not done. If we beat Swindon at the weekend and get to 90 points then we can smell promotion.”

Brentford set a new club-record points tally for a season after racking up their 26th win of the campaign.

And Warburton added: “It was a very good night – we got the goal we wanted and we got three points.

“It was frustrating at times but we’ll take any goal and any three points at this stage. We want a certain spot in the league and we’re not there yet.”
