Brentford boss Dean Smith has praised his side after a "wonderful" 2-0 win over QPR at Loftus Road.

The Bees dominated the majority of the game after over-coming a fast start from the hosts - and never looked in danger of letting their lead slip after Josh Clarke put them in front in the first half.

QPR rallied after half-time but failed to fashion a clear-cut chance - and Brentford managed to punish them later on with a fantastic strike from Romaine Sawyers to make it 2-0.

After the match - Dean Smith spoke to Sky Sports pundits about his side's performance - and he believes his side were well deserving of their three points.

He said: "To get the win today is a wonderful performance. Especially in the first half.

"Second half, we've had to defend our box as well. They brought on the big lad to join Sylla but they didn't worry our back four today.

Brentford's Romaine Sawyers celebrates scoring his side's second goal of the game during the Sky Bet Championship match at Loftus Road, London.

"We wanted to be quicker in the ball than we were against Barnsley last week and I thought we were a threat.

"We knew they were a team that liked to pressure and at times we'd have to play really tight and we've got players that are capable of that.

"We knew they played with a high press and we thought we could beat that by switching play which at times we did. We used every opportunity we had when we won the ball back and thankfully it worked today.

Smith was also asked in particular about goal-scorer Josh Clarke - who was given the man-of-the-match award after a fantastic display.

The Brentford boss knows that winger can still improve - but knows that the 21-year-old is still bettering himself.

"He [Clarke] was good without the ball as well, and I think that's what he's got to get better at and is getting better at.

"But he was great on the ball as well, he carried the ball.
