Josh McEachran escaped a broken bone at Sheffield Wednesday but the Brentford midfielder is unlikely to face Rotherham United on Saturday.

The Bees midfielder was stretchered off before the break after taking a whack just above the ankle with the west Londoners going on to win by two goals to one.

And it appears unlikely that the former Chelsea man will be in line to face the Millers at Griffin Park.

Head coach Dean Smith: “Josh McEachran is struggling for Saturday. He got a whack just above the ankle.

“Fortunately there is no fracture. It's okay. It's just very painful and he's got a crutch to aid his walking.”

Lasse Vibe missed Tuesday night's win with a thigh strain and returned to light training on Thursday, putting his participation on Saturday in doubt.

Lasse Vibe celebrates his goal

Smith added: “Lasse took part in a light session today but only part training. We'll know if he'll be fit or not for tomorrow.”

Were Vibe and strike partner Philipp Hofmann (back) to miss the game against the Championship's bottom side, Smith may turn to Romaine Sawyers, who led the line at Hillsborough, or could select Florian Jozefzoon or Sergi Canos up front.

He explained: “I thought Romaine did well (on Tuesday). He became a target for us and brought others into play.

“He had a couple of efforts on goal, which we'd like to see him do more. He filled the position well and his link-up with Jota, Sergi and Flo, when he came on, was very good.

“Hopefully more of the same. We've got the opportunity. Flo finished the game up front. Sergi can play up there as well.

“We've got a few options but we are short of centre forwards with both Philipp Hofmann and Lasse Vibe struggling.”
