Dean Smith is going to bide his time to see if Brentford should find a replacement for Lewis Macleod during the January transfer window.

The Scottish midfielder suffered a season ending knee injury during the 2-0 win over QPR in October and underwent surgery last week.

With Alan Judge still several weeks from even returning to training Smith is running short of options going forward.

But he will weigh up possible solutions, including adding reinforcements in January, closer to the window actually opening.

Pensive: Dean Smith

He said: “Possibly. We'll have to wait and see where we are closer to the time. We're monitoring a number of situations should the need be to move.”

Brentford did not complete a single deal last January, while selling Toumani Diagouraga to Leeds and James Tarkowski to Burnley.

The Bees may assess where they are in the league to determine whether they are going to be buyers during the window or sellers once again.
