Sergi Canos has found pre-season at Brentford more enjoyable than his previous two at Liverpool and Norwich.

The Spaniard was keen to go out and play first team football in 2015 when he was at Anfield, doing so on loan at Griffin Park.

The forward then moved to Norwich last summer but had a difficult six months in Norfolk, returning to west London on a permanent transfer in January.

Despite Canos going into his third season as a Bee, it is the first time he has experienced how Dean Smith's side go about pre-season training.

He said: “Two years ago it was difficult as I wasn't happy at Liverpool and wanted to move on loan.

“The one last year was difficult as I went to a new team and everything was new for me in Norwich.

“This pre-season has been the most enjoyable and the most important. This year means a lot for me and for everyone. You can smell that something big is coming.”

Canos is relishing the opportunity to line up against Celta Vigo on Saturday as it will be the first time he has faced a team from his home country.

He added: “I'm really looking forward to that game. It's emotional for me. I have never played against a La Liga side.

“It's going to be my first time to play against one of the teams from my country will be nice.”
