Dean Smith deemed his Brentford side's performance in the 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers as the worst at Griffin Park in his tenure.

The Bees were flat and failed to penetrate and it would have been a travesty if Maxime Colin's fourth goal of the season had settled the game.

Wolves hit back in the dying minutes with Matt Doherty and then Helder Costa handed the black country side all three points.

Smith said: “That was certainly the worst performance at Griffin Park in my time here. I don’t even think we had a first gear and Wolves were better from start to finish,” he said.

“I don’t know why it happened because this is a group of players I have a lot of belief in.
