Branislav Ivanovic will return to the Chelsea squad for Saturday’s crunch clash with Stoke City.

The powerful Serbian defender has been out of action since picking up a hamstring injury on international duty a month ago.

He was widely expected to be involved in Wednesday’s Champions League win over Dynamo Kiev after resuming training at Cobham earlier this week.

However, there was no place for the full-back in Mourinho’s plans against the Ukrainians as Baba Rahman and Cesar Azpilicueta were preferred on the flanks.

Mourinho, who will serve a one-match stadium ban this week, today confirmed that Ivanovic is now ready to be considered for selection against the Potters.

Chelsea will continue to be without Thibaut Courtois and Radamel Falcao as the Blues pair work their way back from injury.
