Matt Phillips scored a late, late equaliser to claim a point QPR barely deserved.

In added time, the winger stepped over and fired left-footed and found the net although Bolton keeper Ben Amos hardly covered himself in glory attempting to save.

A deserved leveller? Phillips's shot was only the second from Rs on target in a tepid second half, and the other came from Phiillips as well, this time comfortably saved by Amos.

It looked as if no one would score until Zach Clough caught a 25-yard right-foot effort so sweetly it shot past Alex Smithies into the top corner on 68 minutes.

Rangers rang the changes and once sub Nasser El Khayat came on for Junior Hoilett there was a bit more happening on the left.

Within minutes of his arrival, El Khayati sent over a delicious cross but James Perch, on the butt of jokes from his team-mates about his lack of goals, was unable to silence them from eight yards when he fired to the right and missed.

His almost game-long spat with Darren Pratley eventually saw Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink come to the midfielder's rescue that saved him a red card.

The weather was the winner in a moribund first half.

A booking for Henry for a 50-50 tackle on Pratley was the one moment that got any kind of reaction from the home fans.

Right behind it, came a Rooneyesque overhead effort from Clough that fortunately zinged past Alex Smithies post four minutes before the break.

Conor Washington brought a fine stop from keeper Ben Amos earlier on to encourage the west Londoners, but swirling rain and a less than bowling green pitch made flowing play something of a rarity.

It looked as if the game was up in every sense, but just like the late 1-0 win over Ipswich two weeks ago, it was Phillips on the end of the one chance that mattered that elevated Rs two places up the Championship table.
