Gary Cahill says it is not in Chelsea's nature to brag about their win at Eastlands last night.

Blues scuppered Manchester City's 100 per cent home record with a 1-0 win over Manuel Pellegrini's side – the first time City had failed to score at home since November 2010.

But Cahill says Chelsea are in it for the long game, and that now is not the time to crow about their victory.

“We go about our business quietly,” said the Chelsea and England defender, who put in a commanding performance.

“We got the draw (against West Ham), which put us a couple of points behind and made this game even bigger.

“To come here and to get a win is very, very difficult. But I thought we came here with a game plan: the game plan worked, and everyone put in a shift. I thought everyone was fantastic, and we go away with a great win.”

However, Cahill did permit himself a little time to celebrate the defensive prowess no team has managed to record in the Blue half of Manchester in more than three years.

“A clean sheet here, which is rare,” he said with pride.

“I saw, just before we left the hotel (pre-match) it came on Sky saying they hadn't failed to score since 2010.

“So we were buzzing with that when we left! Just hearing that, literally 10 minutes before we set off!

“So I think they (pundits) were talking about how many it was going to be. But we defended really well. And we got a clean sheet!”
