Nathan John's 50th goal for Bedfont Eagles on Sunday was a bitter-sweet moment.
His U12s side were already six goals down, conceding them all in the first 15 minutes, before he hit his half-century.
It got worse for Eagles when Shay Braham smashed a penalty against the bar and opponents Burnham Juniors Whites broke away and scored a seventh.
Robert Davie pulled another back for Eagles after the break, but two late Burnham goals made it 9-2.
Connor Eaglestone was man-of-the-match, closely followed by John and Calum Foskett, who never gave up in the middle of the park.
Boss Mark Braham said: "All credit to the boys for battling back in the second-half in what could have been an even bigger beating."
Keeper George Woodbridge was the hero as the U10s preserved their unbeaten record by coming back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Bourne Patriots.
Eagles found themselves two down within 15 minutes and had man-of-the-match Woodbridge to thank for not being further behind.
But they pulled one back after the break when Charlie Bailey found Kacey Williams on the right to fire home.
And five minutes later they were level when George Griffin found Aaron Lovett, who smashed home the equaliser from an acute angle.
Meanwhile, Sam Baiget put in a man-of-the-match performance in his last game for the U9s, but it was not enough to prevent a 3-0 defeat.
Daniel St Pierre was a close second in the star man stakes, while keeper Tony Guyett made a great double save from the penalty spot.
