Former QPR manager Harry Redknapp has told Ravel Morrison "there is only one mug who will take a chance on you now and that's me", after taking the midfielder on trial at Birmingham City.

The troublesome playmaker, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Loftus Road, has been invited to St Andrews for a month in order to earn himself a contract with the Blues.

Morrison has an undoubted level of quality but has failed to show this on a consistent basis, despite having played for Manchester United, West Ham, Lazio and Cardiff City.

But Harry Redknapp is keen to give the 24-year-old one final chance to prove he can be a top player.

Speaking to TalkSport, Redknapp said: "He's such a talent. His ability is up there with the best there is around.

“I have taken him for a month on trial and said to him: 'Come and show what you can do, earn yourself a contract, don't waste all that fantastic ability, and prove to people that you can produce and behave'.

"He is not a bad lad. He is not a nasty boy in any shape or form. He has been easily led by the wrong people, but he trained yesterday and some of the stuff he does is fantastic. I love watching him play.”
