Ben Burgess bagged a second-half winner as Brentford maintained their promotion push with victory against Cardiff City.

The Bees striker landed the decisive blow 12 minutes from time after the hosts came from behind to earn the points at Griffin Park.

Jason Bowen broke the deadlock midway through the first half when the Bluebird headed home Graham Kavanagh's free-kick.

However, Brentford levelled after the break when Stephen Hunt fired home from 15 yards.

Burgess capped a fine comeback for the west Londoners when he scored from inside the box.

Bees boss Steve Coppell said: "I've said all season that every team is capable of beating every other team in this division and so it is proving.

"It was a massive challenge against a side that has cost millions and it gave us a huge indication of just how good we are."
