Grant Hall covets a place in a future England set-up - but if that doesn't work out, QPR's player of the year is eligible through his grandparents to represent the Republic of Ireland.

However, the former Tottenham defender admits there is a way to go before he rubs shoulders again with former team-mate Harry Kane or don green for Martin O'Neill's side.

If he replicates last season's form, surely O'Neill will make W12 a must-visit - either for himself or assistant Roy Keane. NOte his goal against Reading last season, here.

Jamie Vardy made his England debut at the age of 29 and Hall, at 24, knows that he has time on his side.

But, for now, his first desire is to impress at QPR and help Rangers battle for promotion in the Championship.

He said: “I still have international aims. Every player hopes to play for their country. It's every player's dream.

“I'm just concentrating on myself and what I have to do at QPR. Every boy's dream is to play for their country.

He added: “I'm also eligible for the Republic of Ireland as my grandparents are Irish.”

Hall was one of five players making all 90 minutes of the pre-season friendly yesterday against Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven 1-0 in courtesy of Seb Polter's 51st-minute penalty.
