Ollie Watkins believes that, once Brentford click, someone is going to be on the end of a heavy defeat.

A standard report on a Bees game this season tends to include the words 'rue missed chances' and 'punished for a defensive lapse' or similar but, if the west Londoners fire on all cylinders then victory will be inevitable.

Watkins and Brentford have a chance to take confidence when they meet Norwich tonight in the Carabao Cup and the former Exeter man is targeting a fourth round place to take into Saturday's meeting with Bolton.

“Hopefully we can punish teams. it's going to come with 3-0 or 4-0,” he said.

“Hopefully we can get a little cup run going, and then take that into the league.”

There was a smattering of boos after the 1-1 draw with Reading with certain elements of the home crowd frustrated after another winless game and the forward can understand the frustrations.

He said: “I can understand that, we've played well but not putting the ball in the net - you've got to make that count and we haven't got the luck at the moment.

“When we do, we're going to punish someone three or four nil.”
