Brentford have re-opened contract talks with star striker Clayton Donaldson.

The former Crewe frontman has smashed 18 goals in 46 games for the Bees this season, but his deal is due to expire in the summer.

Brentford started negotiations with the 30-year-old earlier this campaign. However, the club were reluctant to table an offer until they knew what division they would be in next term.

With promotion to the Championship now secured, sporting director Frank McParland will hold further discussions with Donaldson's representatives this week in a bid to thrash out a new contract.

Donaldson has scored 53 goals in 153 games after arriving on a Bosman free transfer from Crewe in 2011.
