Brentford boss Mark Warburton has added David Weir to his coaching staff following the departures of Alan Kernaghan and Peter Farrell.

Assistant manager Kernaghan and first-team coach Farrell were part of Uwe Rosler's backroom team before the German quit the club to take up his post at Wigan Athletic.

And new boss Mark Warburton has brought in former Everton and Rangers defender to work alongside him in TW8.

“Peter and Alan have worked tirelessly over the past two seasons and have made an essential contribution to taking the club forward," said Warburton.

“Whilst we have spoken about continuity, it is equally as essential that I put my own fingerprint on the squad and the coaching staff.

“I need to introduce people I have a close working relationship with to help take the club to the next level.

“I am delighted to have David join us. He had an outstanding playing career, working under some great coaches, and has a wealth of coaching experience.

“There will be an undoubted benefit for the staff and players to have someone of David’s quality here with us."
