He may have made his name as a keeper with the likes of Bedfont Green and Egham Town – but Gary Ross is now a hero out on the pitch.

The former stopper is fed up with life between the sticks, so has joined Bedfont & Feltham in an attempt to make it as an outfield player.

His first effort wasn't bad either – Ross came on as a sub at full back for his Yellows debut on Saturday and bagged the equaliser in their 2-2 draw at Staines Lammas.

Boss Wayne Tisson said: “Gary is disillusioned with being a keeper, so I said I would give him a look as an outfield player. We had a late pull out on Saturday, so Gary got his chance and really took his opportunity. He needs to find his place in the squad, but he gives us an option as a back up keeper as well – it's like having two players in one.

“We have also brought in Charlie Defty from North Greenford United, who is an experienced defender, having also played for AFC Hayes at a higher level, and will help give us some experience at the back as we have some young lads back there.”

The Yellows came back from 2-0 down in their Division One clash to draw 2-2 with Staines Lammas, with Jon-Barries Bates also netting.

In the same division, CB Hounslow United were hammered 7-1 at Spelthorne Sports, but recovered to hold Worcester Park 1-1 on Tuesday night.

In the Premier Division, a fourth straight win moved Bedfont Sports out of the relegation zone on Tuesday night, goals from Jamie Read and Daryl Saunders earning a 2-1 at Alton Town. This came on the back of Saturday's 4-0 hammering of Frimley Green in which Read also netted, along with

Nick Hardy, Theo Campbell and Terry Fennessy.

In the same division, Hanworth Villa followed their 1-1 draw at Molesey on Saturday, in which Matt Baines headed an equaliser and keeper Josh Richardson saved a second penalty in as many games, by knocking Epsom Athletic out of the Challenge Cup 4-1 on Tuesday night, with two more from Baines and one each from Levi King and Steve Loveridge.
