Jon-Barrie Bates missed a last-gasp penalty as Bedfont Green drew at Egham Town on Tuesday night.
Bates scored one, hit both the post and the bar, and missed from 12 yards as Green's first match for two weeks ended 2-2.
Jamie Houghton gave Egham the lead with a tap in, but Bates levelled before the break.
Chris Henry put Green ahead after the restart, but a defensive error let the hosts equalise. Skipper Bates then crashed one effort off the underside of the bar and shaved the wrong side of the post minutes later.
The gods appeared to have smiled on Green when they were awarded a spot-kick for a foul on Henry, but Bates blazed his shot over. Meanwhile, two goals in the last 10 minutes at Bishop Stortford lifted Hampton & Richmond to fourth in Blue Square South.
Barrie Matthews and Lawrence Yaku struck the vital goal to clinch a 3-1 win over their hosts who finished with 10 men.
Earlier,Steve Tyson had drawn the Beavers level with his first goal for the club.
Elsewhere, Staines Town beat Hastings 2-0 thanks to Marc Charles-Smith and an own goal. It completed a good week for the Swans after beating promotion-rivals Tooting & Mitcham 2-1 on Saturday.
Ashford Town (Middx) thrashed Billericay Town 5-1 on Saturday before seeing off Harrow Borough 1-0 on Tuesday night.
