Paul Barry reckons his Hampton & Richmond Borough squad are finally showing their potential – and his three new signings can only improve things further.

After a torrid start to the season, the Beavers have now lost just once in eight games, culminating in Saturday's 5-1 FA Cup hammering of Arlesey Town.

Charlie Moone's hat-trick, plus goals from Dan Thompson and James Simmonds, helped exorcise the ghosts of Hampton's humiliating 6-2 exit in the same cup to the same team two years ago.

Joint-manager Barry said: “We're finally starting to show what we're made of now. It's just a shame most of them have been cup games – we just need to take that form into the league and we will soon be moving up the table.”

Barry this week added Woking academy defender Lewis Taylor and ex-Kingstonian and East Thurrock winger Luke Wanadio to his squad, along with former Hendon and AFC Wimbledon striker Belal Aite-Ouakrim.

He said: “Lewis can play centre back or left back and has real pedigree, while Luke tore us apart playing for Ks last season and will give us some width as we haven't got any wide players. Belal is technically excellent and likes to play behind a main striker, getting the ball and creating chances.”

Hampton return to league action with a rearranged fixture against Met Police on Tuesday, but first host Bedford Town, who they last month knocked out of the FA Cup, in the FA Trophy tomorrow.

Alan Bray, whose broken arm caused the postponment of the original Met Police game, is now out of his cast, but fellow centre back Billy Jeffreys may need an operation on his knee.
