Brentford's latest signing is a video star.

Boss Andy Scott sized up Marcus Bean on the club's VCR after going to watch him in action for Blackpool - only to find he wasn't playing.

But Scott must have liked what he saw on the screen as he this week snapped up Bean, 23, on a two-year deal after he was released by the Seasiders.

Scott said: "The reason Marcus wasn't playing when we went to see him was he decided to have a hernia operation so he'd be fit for next season, which is good news for us.

"We watched several videos of Marcus and got several scouts' reports, and what we heard and saw was very positive.

"I also thought he did a really good job when he played against us on loan at Rotherham last season, and I've been in touch with his agent for several months."
