CHELSEA are creating the same number of goal-scoring chances week-in week-out, says boss Andre Villas-Boas .

The Blues have had a fractious fortnight: during which they failed to convert enough opportunities to see off QPR and Genk; and managed just one goal during a forgettable trip to lowly Blackburn.

Meanwhile they were defensively haphazard during the goal-crazy defeat at home to Arsenal.

But Villas-Boas says that if his team has any problem at all, it is not in creating chances.

He said: “To be fair, we have shown in the games that we have lost, we have created as many opportunities as we create when we win games.

“And exactly the opposite: in the games that we won we have conceded the same amount of opportunities as in the games that we lost.

“So it is just a curious statistic at the moment. I think we have good, solid defensive organisation.”

The Portuguese coach blames an unpredictable period in the top flight during which anything can happen, and has happened, between the top four sides.

“The pattern that the Premier League has at the moment between the top teams is something that I think reflects the unpredictability of the game,” he said.

“It will not become a pattern in the future. And one day the games between top teams will be much more even. So it is just something that is happening this year.”
