Aston Villa's match-winner Albert Adomah has joked that he didn't want to check his phone after his brace subjected childhood club QPR to defeat on Saturday.

The former-Middlesbrough man was a Hoops fan growing up, saying that's the reason he chose not to celebrate his goals during the 2-1 victory at Loftus Road.

Speaking to The Express and Star, Adomah said: "I’m a local boy and used to play on the AstroTurf, the rubber, round the way. That’s why I did not want to jump up for joy when I scored though, at the end, I went to celebrate with the Villa fans.

“My family aren’t QPR fans. My mum supports Everton because she likes the name.

“Dad supports Arsenal and my brother supports Chelsea. I won’t get stick from them.

“But the majority of my friends support QPR, so I’m not going to look at my phone!

“I had quite a few friends at the game. My brother was there. It was quite nice. Close to home is always good.”
