Neal Ardley believes his side need to get better at 'game management' after watching his side concede a late equaliser to Plymouth Argyle.

Michael Smith's tenth goal of the season looked to have secured three points in Wimbledon's final game of the year but Reuben Reid scored two minutes from time to snatch a point for the visitors.

Dons manager Ardley felt his side bossed the opening 40 minutes but was disappointed a late lapse in concentration had cost his side the victory in Wimbledon's final game of 2013.

He said: “I felt for 40 minutes of the first half that we were the better team. We put a lot of good balls in the box and Smudger's had his one v one and you're thinking we're needing to capitalise on this. We played well, got the goal and looked like we were in the ascendancy.

“What happens is people think you sit back and invite pressure. You don't. The opposition throw a lot more bodies forward when they're chasing the game and you have a decision to make. What they did was change to a 3-5-2 and go very direct.

“You can't just take a risk, you have to try and defend. I thought we managed  that for large parts of it, but what we didn't then do was game manage to break up their play and stretch the game. We kept trying to play the ball to feet and in the end, we made bad decisions that put us under pressure.”

The games keep coming thick and fast, with a trip to Dagenham & Redbridge for the District Line derby up next for Ardley's troops on New Year's Day.
