Neal Ardley believes his AFC Wimbledon side have shown different faces in claiming precious draws over the last week.

Astute and confident in restricting title chasing Portsmouth at Fratton Park seven days earlier, Dons showed another side to their nature when climbing off the canvas courtesy of Adebayo Azeez's last-gasp leveller to peg back another would-be frontrunner Wycombe on Saturday.

The point keeps Dons on the fringes of the play-off scrap and stretches their unbeaten league run to five games.

"Last week we were tactically brilliant against Portsmouth, limiting them to hardly anything at home and having more possession than them which hasn't happened all season, and this week we have had a good old fashioned League Two scrap," said Ardley

"To go 1-0 down against a team who don't concede too many goals and just keep going and not give up is a different quality about character and scrapping a goal at the end for a point which might be crucial at the end of the season."

Ardley admitted the draw with Wanderers wasn't the prettiest and he had to adopt a less conventional 4-3-3 for the last half hour after his side lost out in the 4-4-2 battle.

"I would not want to come and watch that game every week," he added. "But Wycombe aren't where they are in the league with two games in hand on everybody because they are lucky.

"Every team struggles to deal with what they do because they do it really well. They are a hard-working team with good powerful athletes who never give you a minute to settle.

"You end up playing their game and they are better at it than you, so eventually, we took the brave decision to go three up and try and pen them in and it worked."
