Antonio Conte will be arriving at Cobham this week as he begins his new job at Chelsea.

The Italian signed a three-year contract to join the Blues in April but was unable to take charge until after fulfilling his commitments with his country at Euro 2016.

Conte took a week off to recharge his batteries after elimination at the hands of Germany as he prepares for his first job in Premier League football.

Chelsea’s players are due to report back for the start of pre-season training today as they undergo fitness tests and take to the pitches at their Surrey base.

John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, Nemanja Matic, Oscar and Diego Costa are among those expected back after having had a summer free from international commitments.

Terry, who had been set to leave the club at the end of last term before being granted a new deal, has been keeping himself in shape while on holiday in Portugal.

Former Blues goalkeeper Carlo Cudicini is also expected at Cobham as he begins a new chapter of his career with a coaching role back at his old club.

Some of the squad, including those who had been out on loan in 2014/16, dropped back into Cobham last week to get a head-start on building their fitness.

However, players involved in the latter stages of the Euros and Copa America will not be required to start training until the start of the club’s pre-season tour.

New boss Conte and his squad are jetting off to Austria on Friday for a week-long training camp and friendlies against Rapid Vienna and RZ Pellets.

Chelsea are also due to tour the United States at the end of July and into the start of August as they face friendlies with Liverpool, Real Madrid and AC Milan.
