Patrick Agyemang has been pencilled in for his first QPR start in more than a month against Southampton on Sunday.

The Rangers striker had been out with a groin problem until his 76th minute appearance as a sub against Bristol City 11 days ago but is now ready to carry on where he left off against the Saints last season.

Agyemang struck twice at St Marys in February to win 3-2 and avenge the hapless 3-0 home defeat at Loftus Road just over a year ago.

Although it might be remembered this was a Rangers side still grieving the tragic death of star teenage Ray Jones in a car crash just a week earlier.

Rs boss Iain Dowie was happy with Agyemangs progress, but was set to dash the hopes of midfielder Akos Buzsaky hoping to grab some space on the bench.

He said: Pats virtually there, but although Akos played in Tuesdays reserve match against Millwall, hell need a little more time before hes considered for the first team.

Dowie was also both mystified and delighted defender Damion Stewart hadnt been called up for the Jamaica World Cup squad this week.

Damions done ever so well since he came in, said his boss, but his surprise exclusion can only do us a power of good.

Buzsaky went off after 70 minutes against Millwall as his team fought back from 2-0 down to win 4-3.

Italian Samuel Di Carmine grabbed a brace in the win at The New Den.
