One of Hartlepool's men to watch may not be around for much longer, so AFC Wimbledon fans are advised to take a good look now!

Striker Luke James is apparently being tracked by a whole host of other clubs, not least Peterborough, who have made their interest known in the 19 year old.

“He is last season's top scorer, and although Hartlepool are yet to score a league goal this season, he has looked the most lively and most likely to score,” said Roy Kelly of the Hartlepool Mail . “He also swept the player of the year awards last season and is very much in demand.”

Welcome return: Tommy Miller in action for Swindon last season

Kelly also selected veteran midfielder Tommy Miller, who returned to Hartlepool this summer via 13 years away at the likes of Ipswich, Sunderland, Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield and Swindon, as one to watch.

He said: “Tommy was a hero here in the late 1990s and can still do it as a holding midfielder at the age of 35, and he has been one of the few bright lights this season.”

The third one to watch, according to Kelly, is another summer signing, former Midlesbrough, Bristol City and Bradford centre back Matthew Bates.

Experienced head: Matthew Bates in his Middlesbrough days

He added: “Our manager, Colin Cooper, actually played alongside Matthew for a while, and although he is only 27, he is an experienced head in what is a very young team.”
