AFC Wimbledon's midweek hero, Bayo Akinfenwa believes there is more to come from his team and described Saturday's home game against Bury as 'massive'.

Akinfenwa came off the bench on Tuesday to score the winner in the 3-2 Johnstone's Paint Trophy victory over rivals MK Dons.

The Dons striker has flourished since his move to Kingsmeadow and is relishing the prospect of facing League Two leaders Bury this weekend.

Speaking to the club's website he said: “The manager has assembled a great squad here and there is a really good togetherness.

"I still feel though that there’s more to come from this squad and myself. Hopefully, we are sitting here at the end of this season talking about us doing big things.

"We have to put the win behind us now because we have a massive game coming up against a team top of the league.

"Hopefully, we can finish off this week with three points on Saturday.”

The Dons currently sit 13th in League Two, eight points behind leaders Bury who have only lost once in their last 10 league games.

Boss Neal Ardley is likely to recall strikers Akinfenwa and Matt Tubbs to the starting line-up against Bury while captain Alan Bennett is also expected to return.
