Ade Azeez has warned Carlisle United that AFC Wimbledon won't be letting them off the hook again tomorrow.

Back in September, in the first ever meeting between the two sides, the Dons twice went in front in the first half at Brunton Park through Sean Rigg and Matt Tubbs.

However, having twice pulled level, the hosts struck twice more after the break to take a 4-2 lead with 20 minutes remaining.

Tubbs reduced the deficit with a penalty with nine minutes left on the clock before substitute Azeez came off the bench to fire a dramatic injury time equaliser and earn a 4-4 draw.

He said: “It was a bit of a crazy game. We went in front twice but had to come back late on after going 4-2 down, but we have learnt from those mistakes and it won't happen again.

Dons hero: Azeez celebrates a goal for AFC

“We were still gelling as a team then as a lot of new players came in, but we are wiser now. We have grown as a team and have a great team spirit. It was only my second goal for the club.”

That equaliser was the second time in a week the summer signing from Charlton had scored in the last minute for the Dons, the first coming in a defeat to Stevenage, who AFC also lost to last Saturday.

It is only now that the one-time super-sub, who was an England U19 international only two years ago, is getting an extended run in the side, with his recent brace against Exeter justifying boss Neal Ardley's faith in him.

He said: “That goal at Carlisle was only my second for the club, and and it was a great feeling. I feel I have made an impact when coming on, and hopefully I will get more starts.

“Having come from Charlton, it's hard coming down when you have been at a higher level, but I have come here to learn and I'm still learning. I'm only 21, and I always hope to get back up there, which is extra motivation.”

Azeez was denied what looked a clear penalty in Saturday's defeat at Stevenage, but felt the decision was in line with those during the game as whole.

He added: “It was laughable, I don't understand why the officials would not give that. He didn't get any of the ball – he took me and not the ball – and you can see from the way I fell that it wasn't a dive. But no decisions went our way, we should have got more.”
