AFC Wimbledon were made to rue Lyle Taylor’s first-half penalty miss against Swindon.

Tom Elliott latched on to a loose ball and just nipped in front of Swindon’s Conor Thomas on 30 minutes.

And although their appeared to be little if any contact, Elliott won a dubious penalty.

However, a neutral would say justice was served when Taylor’s low strike was saved one-handed by Lawrence Vigouroux to keep the game goalless.

The draw extended Dons unbeaten run to six league games as they cemented their position slap, bang mid-table following an indifferent start.

On the ball: Tom Elliott

Taylor showed his eagerness from the right in the early stages with a snapshot from 25 yards that did nothing to trouble Vigouroux.

Taylor then had the first real chance of the game when a long throw fell to him in the box; with his back to goal he looked to hook a volley into the bottom corner but it went narrowly wide.

Swindon showed attacking intent when Ellis Iandolo turned Taylor before cutting the ball back, but QPR loanee Darnell Furlong’s cross come shot went high and wide.

Yaser Kasim had the Robins best chance of the half when a cleared free-kick found its way to him unmarked on the edge of the area.

But his powerful shot ricocheted off Wimbledon defenders and deflected kindly into James Shea’s arms.

Mine! Jake Reeves (L)

Elliott then had an opportunity after Taylor’s ambitious effort deflected back into his path: he laid the ball across to Elliott but his first time shot ballooned over the bar.

Swindon’s Thomas was then gifted the best chance of the game when the ball somehow found its way to him 10 yards from goal, but his low drive failed to trouble a thankful Shea.
