Neal Ardley has been handed an short term boost after AFC Wimbledon's trip to Gillingham on Tuesday night was postponed.

The Dons’ treatment room is busier than a NHS casualty ward at present and a stretched squad was set to make the short journey to Kent.

With Paul Robinson suspended, the absences of six key first-team players left yawning gaps for the trip to Chesterfield where they managed to eke out a 0-0 draw.

Ardley was pessimistic about the chances of his injured troops returning in time for the game at Priestfield but was hopeful they will be available in time for their trip to Sheffield United on February 4.

“One or two might (have been back for tomorrow's postponed game),” he said after the 0-0 draw with Chesterfield.

“Fingers crossed Andy (Barcham) and Dean (Parrett) might be. Lyle (Taylor)’s going to be 50-50 and Tom (Elliott)’s a real doubt.

“Jon Meades won’t make it. We’ll have to see.

“After Tuesday we’ve got ten days until the trip to Sheffield so hopefully when we play there, we’ll more or less have the full squad back.”

The MEMS Priestfield Stadium pitch has been fully covered since January 3, however weather conditions in Kent since Saturday have meant the ground is unsafe to play on.

Officials inspected the pitch at 3pm on Monday, and had no hesitation in making their decision to postpone Tuesday's game.

All purchased tickets for this game will be valid for the rearranged fixture, the date of which will be announced in due course.
