AFC Wimbledon will be without striker Lyle Taylor for tomorrow’s trip to Yeovil after seeing the player was hit with a three-match ban.

Taylor was dismissed in last weekend’s stalemate at Mansfield for an apparent elbow on Nicky Hunt during stoppage time at Field Mill.

Dons manager Neal Ardley lodged an appeal with the FA but has been knocked back by the governing body and the player will now miss the Yeovil match as well as games against Notts County and Luton.

Ardley told Dons Player: “We did appeal against Lyle Taylor’s sending off and we asked Mansfield if they would help us because they felt it was not a sending off.

Suspension headache: Neal Ardley

“We did get a statement from Mansfield, but it came a little bit late to submit it on Tuesday. Whether that would have made a difference I do not know.

“The decision has come through that they (The FA) have agreed with the referee and Lyle will be suspended for three games, which is a big disappointment.

“He was starting to show the qualities that we know he has got. We will use the time he has out well and make sure when he does come back that he is flying.”

There was some more positive team news for the Dons though as winger Andy Barcham returned to full training this week and Karleigh Osborne has shaken off a niggle too.
