AFC Wimbledon have been docked three points by the Football League.

The deduction comes after the Dons fielded an ineligible player in their 4-3 win over Cheltenham last month.

Midfielder Jake Nicholson was the player in question, who scored on his debut in the dramatic win over the Robins after arriving from Morton.

The player took to Twitter today to explain the situation.

A Football Disciplinary Commission hearing today also slapped the Dons with a £5,000 fine, which has been suspended for a year.

It drops Neal Ardley’s side down to 18th in League Two.

They cannot be relegated, regardless of the result in their final game of the season at Accrington on Saturday.
