AFC Wimbledon were defeated 2-0 by Luton Town at Kenilworth Road despite a resilient performance from Neal Ardley's side.

Karleigh Osborne was sent off after receiving two yellow cards within three minutes near the half hour mark, leaving the Dons with an uphill battle.

Despite a strong second half, two goals from Jack Marriott ensured Wimbledon left Kenilworth Road empty handed.

Here's what Ardley had to say...

The result

"Its difficult to take that result. No one likes losing, the players don't like it. We'd gone five games unbeaten - thats ended and we have to start again now. Its tough going down to ten men after 35minutes. We can only control our performance levels, the energy and the effort we put in and the way we play.

"I thought we were excellent. I've looked at the stats from our guys and we had more possession than them and more attempts than them which is mostly with ten men. I can't fault the players because I thought we were excellent."

The sending off

"I couldn't see the first booking and I think that was probably the worst of the two. The second one I thought was a little bit light. It's disappointing you don't get a warning like 'listen, you've had one - thats your lot' but I'm not going to have a go at the ref about it.

Second half tactics

"We went to a diamond with one up front. We wanted to get more support to our top man so we played Rigg in the hole. We wanted to protect the middle of the pitch and we did it brilliantly. We defended brilliantly and we had chances to maybe get our noses in front.

"We've conceded two late goals - one was a bobbly one that could have gone anywhere in the box and the second one is a break away when you're chasing the game.

"If it had been 11 vs 11 I think it would have been a different game."

Using the loan market

"We need to look at that now. I've got to get over this game first and then start focusing on that. We will have a look, but it is hard to pull together in the space of two days. We'll see where we go with it but it is what it is. You get injury crisis sometimes and sometimes something like Karleigh's sending off happens."
