Debutant Gregg Wylde's cracking strike set AFC Wimbledon on the road to opening day defeat at home to Plymouth.

The Scottish-born winger cracked an unstoppable shot from the left past James Shea six minutes from the break to put Argyle ahead against the run of play.

It was a lead the Pilgrims doubled three minutes after the interval when Graham Carey's 25-yard shot deflected off Jake Reeves to loop over Shea's left hand.

The scoreline at that stage was harsh on Dons who had started well, forcing a flurry of corners - 10 in all in the first half with debutant winger Andy Barcham prominent.

However, apart from the former Tottenham youth's low shot Neal Ardley's men created little with which to test Pymouth keeper Luke McCormick.

Only a smart save by Shea from Jake Jervis prevented a third before the home side mounted a late rally which saw substitute Jon Meades force a save, but Barry Fuller's stoppage-time yellow card completed a miserable afternoon for the Dons.
